LIFE IN ZAGREB: HOW TO MAKE INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS AND FIND COMMUNITY

Every year, Zagreb is changing for the better and becoming more diverse as new events,
trendy restaurants, cool cafes and unique communities pop up all over the place, and one of
our favourites is Zagrebpreneurs!
Zagrebpreneurs was created by Rebecca Michelle shortly after she moved to Croatia. We
talked to her to find out about this thriving international space, made specifically for the
professional ladies in Zagreb. If you’ve been thinking about moving to Zagreb, this is a must
read!
Meet Rebecca Michelle Co-creator of Zagrebpreneurs
Hi everyone! I’m Rebecca! I’m from the United States and I’ve been living in Zagreb for
several years. I first came to Croatia on a yacht holiday and immediately fell in love! After
several summers of coming to Croatia, I decided to move to Zagreb. I really like living here
because it’s safe, my neighbourhood feels very cozy as I see familiar faces walking around
town all the time and I’m surrounded by several of my favourite specialty coffee cafes. I’m in
heaven!
However, when I first moved here it was tough. I didn’t know many people and I had just
become an entrepreneur and launched my online business as a mindfulness meditation
coach, which meant I worked from home 100% of the time. Because of this, I felt very lonely.
I knew I needed to connect with others going through the same experiences to feel better
and that’s how Zagrebpreneurs was born!
On March 8th, 2023, Zagrebpreneurs had its first event, which landed on International
Women’s Day and so far, it’s been amazing. I am surrounded by the most amazing
community of women and I have developed wonderful friendships that will last a lifetime.
What is Zagrebprenuers and Who is it For?
Zagrebpreneurs is an international community based in Zagreb for women who are
entrepreneurs, remote workers or women in business! Zagrebpreneurs also welcomes local
Croatian women, which makes it a very lively and diverse community!
Zagrebpreneurs Mission Statement and What They Do
I started Zagrebpreneurs community because I wanted women to have a meaningful space
to make connections, have fun and thrive, both personally and professionally!
One to three times a month, Zagrebpreneurs offers a range of mindful experiences and
interesting events, like brunch meetups, dinners, networking events, educational workshops,
wellness sessions, group trips, fun activities, creative art classes, co-workings sessions and
so much more!

It’s been a blast and at every gathering, women have the opportunity to make lasting
friendships, discover meaningful relationships and cultivate confidence to achieve their
dreams despite all the challenges.
We have some events coming up next month in collaboration with Digital Nomad Croatia, in
which we’ll work together to create a Public Speaking Workshop! Being able to express
yourself confidently and charismatically is such an important skill and we can’t wait to bring
our worlds together to create something meaningful.
Zagrebpreneurs is the best initiative I could’ve created because I no longer feel lonely and I
know other women are benefiting in the same way. The women in this group are wonderful
and Zagrebpreneurs has given Zagreb an extra specialness.
